North Star Greenbelt Invasives Management Workday

Join Keep Austin Beautiful at the North Star Greenbelt to learn more about the ecological restoration of riparian areas and practice invasive management techniques on Tuesday, September 30th! We will focus on weed wrenching, digging out johnsongrass, and spreading native grass seed as well as discussing the finer points of active land management work. 

We will provide restoration supplies, tools, and seeds as well as plant identification information as necessary on site as well as sunscreen and bug spray. We will meet near the trailhead on Parkfield Dr before heading back along the trail where we will be working - look for the Keep Austin Beautiful signage and event table!

Please remember to wear close-toed shoes and durable clothing as the terrain may be rough in some areas. Conditions may be wet as we will be working along and within the creek when possible; please dress appropriately! Long pants and a hat are also recommended. Be sure to bring a full water bottle and stay hydrated. This event will involve a fair bit of walking through wooded areas with some dense undergrowth. Areas closer to the creek side may present an additional mobility challenge as well.

When arriving at the trail, please remember to hide any valuables and lock your car before checking in. Parking is available streetside on Parkfield Dr. Carpooling is highly encouraged!
