hot out still or would get a higher rating. watered burr oak, fig tree, passion vine, compost, tito veggie beds and adjacent blackberry vines. chopped up some of the larger plant items in compost, picked up and dumped in bag of coffee grounds to compost. and took down "for rent" sign as we are now taking wait list applicants only.
Garden is on a roll building community in the New Year. Attended second Saturday garden day and helped 2 plots become adopted by new community garden members and more.
Lovely gardening weather in December made for a productive and enjoyable gardening event.
Wow! great weather, good showing of gardeners with family and friends, 2 great volunteer groups, happy volunteers got a lot done including mulching and mowing and weeding and turning compost. Fun garden volunteer day. posted photos on our gardens at Gus Garcia Facebook page.
Great weather for a January trash pick up along the trail. Happy and productive volunteers found trash among the winter foliage along the trail all the way to Shropshire and fished trash out of the Blakeney pond.
Good wildlife viewing including a great blue heron. Finished on time.
volunteers at the tool shed did a great job fitting everything in my truck and were super nice and quick. Very organized. Kathleen and Barry answered my questions and it is always nice to see APF celebrities when picking up tools. :-)
solo weeding event today around the sky flower by the cistern bed. Bermuda grass making it thru the cardboard and mulch but over time if we keep up the onslaught of pulling, we'll beat it. Frog fruit plant and horse herb are trying to help by becoming ground cover, which is a really good thing. Moist ground after recent rain made for easier pulling of weeds.
Despite the time change and many volunteers cancelling or not showing up due to crazy rainy and windy weather, we still have a fantastic work day because of the enthusiastic volunteers that did show up and I think we all had fun and hopefully none got poison ivy.
