August Clean Lady Bird Lake

Greetings Volunteers, we’d like to thank you for volunteering for Keep Austin Beautiful's Clean Lady Bird Lake event. You'll be joining 100+ other volunteers to give some extra care to the lake and trails. You have signed up to participate in the Peace Point/EpicSUP Shoreline cleanup. All ages are welcome at this site with adult supervision. Just as a reminder, this is a shoreline cleanup and does not involve boats.

Event Details

·    Starting Location: Peace Point at Lady Bird Lake (2200 S Lakeshore Blvd, Austin, TX 78741)

·    Parking: Street parking is available along South Lakeshore Blvd. 

·    Things to Bring: A FULL bottle of water, a hat, and a snack.

Your Lake Leader for this site will be Freddy Husson and he will have your cleanup supplies, helpful safety guidelines, and further instructions for you.

“Know Before You Go”

Before you head out, please keep the following in mind:

• Per Texas State Law, life jackets are required for everyone on a watercraft. For all children 13 and under the life jacket must be worn at all times. For more information on boater safety, please look to TPWD.
• Be aware that toxic algae blooms can occur in Lady Bird Lake. Whenever you're around natural bodies of water, remain vigilant.
• Recognize that zebra mussels are invasive and widespread in Texas waterways. Let us know if you see any zebra mussels during your volunteer activity. 
• Be able to identify poison ivy, oak, and sumac; identifying these plants is essential for a safe cleanup.
• Hydrate and take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses. Consult this guide for tips on recognizing and addressing heat-related issues.

If you are no longer able to attend, please cancel your shift at your earliest convenience to re-open those spots for registration.
